Introduction to SAP

SAP is the University's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for business processes such as finance, accounting, purchasing, human resources management and more. These functions are integrated in SAP so that data flows from one system component to another without the need for redundant data entry. Integrated data helps ensure consistency in business processes, reporting and compliance.

Get Started

1. Complete Firefly Security Request

In Firefly, under the header "Business Applications," select the "Firefly Security Request" tile. The security request form will ask you to identify the person for whom you are requesting security, then specify that security is requested for "SAP/BI Portal Reports."  Next, complete the open text field that asks for information about what access/security needs to be added to the ID.

When security has been granted, you will receive a confirmation email from the SAP security team.

2. Download SAP GUI

As of SAP version 8, Information Technology Services (ITS) will push GUI updates to end users automatically. Users who require a new install might find the GUI install packet in the Service Center. As campus deployments vary, this may not always be the case. Please contact your ITS service representative for installation assistance. Information about installing SAP is available in Sapphire here.

When the SAP installation is finished and you have restarted your computer, the SAP Logon tile will appear in Firefly under the Business Applications header. When you open SAP, you will be able to perform only the functions for which security was granted.
