ESS Time Types determine the attendance and absence codes available to the employee in ESS Time.

| REGLV | Attendance types for regular employees are available in ESS Time as well as all absence types; therefore, ESS Leave is not used to submit absences. | Regular, leave-eligible BW employees who will submit both attendance and absences in ESS Time. |
| REGNL | Attendance types for regular employees are available in ESS Time and ESS Leave absence types are not included. BKUS, CMU, CRLV, FNL, MIL, SCK and VAC must be submitted via ESS Leave. | Regular, leave-eligible BW employees who will submit attendance in ESS Time and absences in ESS Leave. |
| Student | Attendance types used for student employees are available in ESS Time, and ESS Leave absence types are not included. | Use for student (S2) employees who will submit attendance in ESS Time. |
| TEMONC | Attendance types for temporary employees are available in ESS Time, and ESS Leave absence types for temporary employees (BADW, CRLV, INJ, JRCV, MIL, SC10, SCK, VAC, WOCS, WOCV) are not included. | Temporary, non-leave-eligible BW employees (excluding S2s) or temporary, leave-eligible BW employees who will submit attendance in ESS Time and absences in ESS Leave. |
