See UNL’s Attendance and Work Schedules policies.
Time Entry
If the employee is on a work schedule rule (see Work Schedule Rules) that is already paying them a shift differential for all hours worked, no additional time entry is needed by the employee or time coordinator.
Add Shift Differential Pay
If the employee is not on a work schedule rule that pays them a shift differential for hours worked, and they have an ESS Time Layout of PLONG or PSHORT, any hours that are eligible for shift differential pay must be coded as SH -Shift Premium 10% in ESS Time by the employee.
If the employee is not on a work schedule rule that pays them a shift differential for hours worked, and they have an ESS Time Layout of LONG or SHORT, any hours that are eligible for shift differential pay must be entered and coded as 2702 (pays 10% shift differential) or 2704 (pays 10% shift differential at an overtime rate, 15%) in CATS by the time coordinator. See Entering Shift Pay section of UNL CATS Instructions.
Remove Shift Differential Pay
If the employee is on a work schedule rule (IT0007) that pays them a shift differential and they work a shift that is not eligible for shift differential pay, the shift differential must be removed by the time coordinator via CATS.
NOTE: All shift differential work schedule rules have a time management status of Tm.eval.(plan), which is a negative time reporting status.
