See the Leave University of Nebraska's Declared Leave policy. Declared Leave Days may be established by the University President in recognition of a U.S. Presidential Holiday, a State of Nebraska Holiday, or another University-designated leave day.
When a Declared Leave Day is granted, the University System will automatically load a Declared Leave (DECL) quota into SAP for eligible employees based on their FTE. The quota will become effective on the date it is issued and will remain available for use for one calendar year. Quotas are loaded in SAP as days and are converted to hours based on FTE. For example:
- 1 day = 8 hours for an employee with a 100% FTE
- 1 day = 4 hours for an employee with a 50% FTE
Time Entry
Employees may enter DECL on the designated leave day or, if they are unable to use the leave on that date, retain the hours for use at a later time within the one-year eligibility period. To use their quota of declared leave, BW employees enter DECL hours through ESS Time, and MO employees enter DECL hours through ESS Leave.
Any remaining Declared Leave balance that has not expired will be paid out upon separation from the University or upon transfer to a University position that is not eligible for leave benefits.
