E-Verify Certification

E-Verify is a web-based system that verifies the identity and employment eligibility of newly hired employees by electronically matching information provided by employees on the Form I-9 against records available to the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS); https://www.e-verify.gov.

Requests for employer access to E-Verify should be made by an employee’s cognizant business center manager or immediate supervisor by emailing UNLE-Verify@unl.edu. Once enrolled, the employee will receive a welcome email from "enrollment@dhs.gov" with their login information and steps to get started using the system, which includes an online tutorial.

After completing the E-Verify process, the certification or case results confirmation page should be printed and included as part of the new hire/rehire paperwork.

The E-Verify process is completed each time a new Form I-9 is completed. E-Verify is not required after the completion of Supplement B.

The E-Verify date is populated in SAP infotype IT0041.
