Absence Codes Absence codes are a category of wage type codes that are used for recording leave time.

ADM Administrative Leave No BW, MO No For employee organizational activities, interviews, consulting or outside professional activity, and EAP appointments.
BADW Bad Weather Declared by University No BW, MO No Used to record time absent for regularly scheduled hours for eligible employees during a university closure due to inclement weather.
BKUS Banked Holiday Used No BW, MO Yes Used in lieu of vacation, when available. Hours coded as BKUS reduce an employee’s BHOL quota.
CMU Compensatory Time Used No BW Yes Used in lieu of vacation, when available. Hours coded as CMU reduce an employee’s CME and/or SC10 balances.
CRLV Crisis Leave Used No BW, MO Yes A Crisis Leave quota must be created on an employee’s SAP record before CRLV hours can be posted. Crisis Leave quotas are created on an as-needed basis by Payroll. Hours coded as CRLV reduce an employee’s Crisis Leave quota.
DOFF Day Off No BW No Used when an employee has a 7-day work schedule. DOFF reduces planned working hours and does not pay for hours coded as DOFF. Employee continues to accrue leave. Rarely used and only with prior Payroll approval.
FLH Floating Holiday Used No BW, MO Yes Floating Holiday time is earned, and a quota is built in SAP throughout the year for hours worked on federal holidays when the University is not closed (President’s Day, Arbor Day, Juneteenth, Columbus Day, and Veteran’s Day). An employee must be on the payroll at the time of the holiday to bank the Floating Holiday. Employees are encouraged to use FLH that they have banked during the holiday shutdown in December. A maximum of 40 hours of floating can be carried over into the next calendar year. SAP will require a deduction of Floating Holiday pay if the balance exceeds 40 hours when vacation is posted. Hours coded as FLH reduce an employee’s FLH balance.
FNL Funeral/Bereavement No BW, MO No Used for absences related to a funeral or bereavement period.
INJ Injury Leave No BW, MO No Used for the first 5 days of absence related to work related injury.
JRCV Jury Duty/Civil Leave No BW, MO No Used for hours that an employee has been called to participate in jury duty, voter registration, witness duty, etc. Documentation should be retained in the department.
MIL Military Leave No BW, MO Yes A Military quota must be created on an employee’s SAP record before MIL hours can be posted. SAP will allow a maximum of 120 hours used in a single calendar year. Hours coded as MIL reduce an employee’s MIL balance.
SCK Sick Leave No BW, MO Yes For sick hours requested by the employee and approved by the supervisor. A sick quota must be created on an employee’s SAP record before SCK hours can be posted. Hours coded as SCK reduce an employees SCK balance.
UNPL Unpaid Leave No BW, MO No Used when an employee is required to take unpaid leave. UNPL reduces planned working hours and does not pay for hours coded as UNPL. Leave is not accrued if a full day of UNPL is posted.
VAC Vacation Leave No BW, MO Yes For vacation hours requested by the employee and approved by the supervisor. A vacation quota must be created on an employee’s SAP record before VAC hours can be posted. Hours coded as VAC reduce an employee’s VAC balance.
WOCS Work Comp (Sick) No BW Yes When WOCS is used, 2/3 of the hours are charged to planned time and 1/3 of the hours are deducted from employee’s SCK quota.
WOCV  Work Comp (Vac) No BW Yes When WOCV is used, 2/3 of the hours are charged to planned time and 1/3 of the hours are deducted from employee’s VAC leave quota.
Attendance Codes

Attendance codes are a category of wage type codes that are entered for time worked or earned.

BHOL Banked Holiday Hours Earned No BW, MO Yes Used to pay for hours worked by a BW or MO employee on a recognized holiday, and when used, it also builds a BHOL quota for the hours submitted and coded as BHOL. Must enter only on a fixed holiday date. BHOL earned must be used within 1 year. BHOL hours will only appear in Leave Hours section of pay advice.
CME Compensatory Hours Earned  No BW Yes When CME is earned and taken in lieu of overtime, a compensatory time balance is built at a rate of 1.5 times the hours submitted and coded as CME. CME hours will only appear in Leave Hours section of pay advice.
CSP Contract Service Hours No BW No Used for hours worked by individuals working on a contractual agreement through IANR.
HOL Holiday Pay No BW No Used to pay a BW employee holiday pay on a recognized holiday. Must enter only on a fixed holiday date. Used for BW employees only; Never post or enter HOL for MO employees.
ONC On Call Hours No BW No Used for hours worked by temporary employees (FTE of 33% or less).
OTD Overtime Hours Yes BW No Used to pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a single work week. Hours are paid at 1.5 times an employee’s hourly pay rate. When OTD is used for an employee that is paid on shift pay, payment is 1.5 times the shift rate. OTD is generated automatically, doesn’t need to be entered.
ROPL Regular Over Planned Hours Yes BW No Used for hours worked beyond planned working time (when the hours are not eligible for overtime). Cannot be entered via CATS, only Time Management; use REG in CATS.
SC10 Shift Comp Hours Earned 10% No BW Yes When SC10 is earned, a compensatory time quota is automatically built at a rate of 1.65 times the hours submitted and coded as SC10.
TEM Temporary/Student Worker Hours No BW No Used for hours worked by temporary employees and student workers.
WSR Work Study Academic Year Hours No BW No Used for hours worked by work study eligible student workers during the academic year (August – May).
WSS Work Study Summer Hours (June) No BW No Used for hours worked by work study eligible student workers during the month of June.
WST Work Study Summer Hours (July) No BW No Used for hours worked by work study eligible student workers during the month of July.

An employee’s ESS Time Layout determines if a BW employee has premium wage types available in ESS.

Premium wage type codes are used in unusual circumstances to grant additional pay and must be entered via the CATS ADMN2 profile by the time coordinator. See Employee Remuneration Items (Entering Premium Wage Types) section of the UNL CATS Instructions.

An employee’s Time Management Status in SAP (IT0007) determines if they are on positive or negative time reporting.

Each employee has a work schedule rule (IT0007) that determines the days on which time or leave can be entered.
